Hotel Borg in Reykjavik are looking for Chefs with experience or young chefs fresh out of school
We are looking for Chefs with experience or young chefs fresh out of school for a short term (2 months+) or long term (1 year+) position in Reykjavik, Iceland. Individuals that are looking for an adventure and are willing to work hard.
The restaurant is located in the dignified and imposing, Hotel Borg overlooks the beautiful central square of Austurvöllur, in the heart of Reykjavík, across from the Icelandic parliament and the cathedral.
Borg Restaurant information
Borg Restaurant has been closed for the last 17 months due to the expansion of the hotel which is doubling it´s room capacity. Consequently we got a brand new kitchen.
Borg Restaurant seats 75 people and 15 people at the bar. It is now in it´s soft opening stage from June for dinner only.
In the back of the restaurant is the oldest and most historic ballroom seating 144 in gala dinners. Then there are new private dining and meeting rooms and a bar connecting the new and the old building together. Private dining in the cellar is for 14 people and is very exclusive.
The whole restaurant operation has a license for 550 people events. We also do catering for private parties outdoors.
While restaurant was closed our the head chef, Anita Ösp Ingólfsdóttir, has spent her time well, touring some of North-Americas best restaurants in search for the perfect combination for Borg. The result… We call it New Icelandic Cuisine – where we stay true to the ingredients we love so dearly yet experiment as much as we can, carefully nurturing our creativity and passion for excellence.
Next door we have a Cocktail Bar & Kitchen called Nora Magasin where the cuisine is rustic bistro stile food. It has a diverted and strong customers base from young crowed to the for ever young – fun and a busy place connected to Borg restaurant kitchen through the basement Nora Magasin and Borg Restaurant are also connected through the lobby of Hotel Borg.
We are looking for chefs on both sides that are willing to try something new, experience Iceland and work hard.
Housing provided then salary based on experience.
